The LCS is a joint research unit (UMR 6506) of the CNRS, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs of Caen (ENSICAEN) and the University of Caen Normandie. The LCS has 55 people, including 30 permanent researchers and engineers. The research activities of the LCS are structured in two complementary teams:

• ZEOLITHES team, whose core business is the design of zeolites and other microporous materials for applications in catalysis, adsorption, and advanced uses including selective chemical sensors, membranes, biochemistry, medicine and food industry.
• SPECTROCAT team is involved in the development of in situ and operando spectroscopies allowing molecular understanding of heterogeneous catalysis, adsorption phenomena, and separation.
